Announcing Our New Lead Pastor

I thought this verse was preparing my heart to continue to be the sender, but what God was actually doing was preparing me to be the goer.

God is sending our family to Franklin, Tennessee. I will be serving and leading in a role at Conduit Church as Pastor of Discipleship. I will be helping form curriculum, classes, and small groups, and bringing people from the door to the seats, to the city streets on how to be the greatest Jesus follower and conduit to the world that is surrounding them for Jesus.

We believe in a missionary God—that God the Father sent God the Son, and God the Son has sent God the Spirit, and God the Spirit now sends the church into the world.

We are honored to have served Bridgetown for the last 10 years! We have given our hands and our hearts to this work. We know God will continue to be faithful as Chris Ochoa takes on this role and assumes the responsibility of Lead Pastor of Bridgetown Church.

Dear Bridgetown,

God is faithful! From Pasadena, to Monrovia, to Duarte, and through COVID—even when it looked like we lost it all, from trailers and facilities to meeting in the park—God has led us, provided for us, and taken care of all the details. This year is going to be just the same. Even in the midst of transitions, God will always birth great life.

This year, the Lord gave us a theme verse from Isaiah 6:8:

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’” Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬

Someone once said, “You can either be a sender. You can either be a goer. You can be either, but you can’t be neither.”

Stepping into This Season: A Letter from Pastor Chris Ochoa

God is faithful. God is good.
These are the truths that I am clinging to during this time of transition.

Our lives are full of unexpected moments. Many times, we can let the unexpected induce fear and panic in us because we feel a lack of control. What we had meticulously planned for does not turn out the way that we thought it would. It is in these surprising moments that we must remember: God is faithful, and He is good.

When Pastor Casey told me that God was calling him out of Bridgetown, I was surprised. I was even more surprised when he then asked me to pray about stepping in as lead pastor. I thought to myself, “God, what are you doing? Are you serious?”

In the Book of Isaiah, God says, “Look, I am about to do something new. Now it begins to happen! Do you not recognize it? Yes, I will make a road in the desert and paths in the wilderness” (Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭NET‬‬). God creates new things. He plants life where there is none. He causes that life to grow vibrant and fruitful. He does all things well for His namesake and the good of His people, the church.

So after much prayer and counsel, I have decided to walk in obedience and answer God’s call to Bridgetown Church. It is with the understanding that this church belongs to Jesus, and with full assurance that His Spirit will continue the good work that He began here nearly ten years ago, I commit myself to Bridgetown as its Pastor of Teaching and Vision. I aim to bring biblical clarity, theological depth, transformative discipleship, and familial unity. I desire to see the church embrace its identity as the people of God and for each member to step into the calling that He has placed upon their life: to bear the name of Jesus where only they can.

To Bridgetown, you are dearly loved by God. As we enter into this new season, our drive remains the same:
Our vision is Jesus.
Our mission is people.
Our cause is love.

God is doing new things, and I truly believe that the best is yet to come. The Father loves us. Jesus is our King. The Spirit dwells within us. Yes, God is faithful and good, and He always will be.
